The Guilt of Survival!!

The relationship between Vladek and his son Art is the central narrattive that mostly deals with feelings of guilt. Art primarily has three feelings of guilt: Art's feeling of guilt over not being a good son, his feeling of guilt over the death of his mother, and his feeling of guilt regarding the publication of maus. in the start of the book art mentions how he and his father do not get along, they are always arguing on simple stuff. Also Art feels responsible for the death of his mother, believing it to be a sample of his neglect, Art shows us this in the "prisoner on the hell planet" in chap5, book I. Vladek too has a deep feeling of guilt about surviving the holocaust. Art somehow wishes he was with his parents in the holocaust so he could really know what they lived through, and feels guilty of having an easier life than they did!!
