The Guilt of Survival!!


The relationship between Vladek and his son Art is the central narrattive that mostly deals with feelings of guilt. Art primarily has three feelings of guilt: Art's feeling of guilt over not being a good son, his feeling of guilt over the death of his mother, and his feeling of guilt regarding the publication of maus. in the start of the book art mentions how he and his father do not get along, they are always arguing on simple stuff. Also Art feels responsible for the death of his mother, believing it to be a sample of his neglect, Art shows us this in the "prisoner on the hell planet" in chap5, book I. Vladek too has a deep feeling of guilt about surviving the holocaust. Art somehow wishes he was with his parents in the holocaust so he could really know what they lived through, and feels guilty of having an easier life than they did!!

Anja's Suicide


Anjas suicide was caused by her internal problems and the Holocaust. This led to most of Vladek’s mental and physical sicknesses. Also Vladek noticed that she took many pills and wondered if his fiancĂ© had a sickness that he had no clue about Later, his friend, a druggist, told him the pills were only because she was so skinny and nervous. Anja, Vladek and the rest of their family were very happy but the only abstacle they faced was the holocaust and its horrific events. A suicide does not only affect the individual but it also deeply affects the people around them. Anja failed to understand that no matter how big the problem was, there would always be an answer or a way out. After death, there is no turning back, Anja was one of the few survivors left and even though the holocaust did not kill her physically, it did emotionally!!

A conceited proposal


Swift's "proposal" is that Ireland's overpopulation problem could be solved by selling a large portion if its one-year-old children on the market to be used as food, among other things, thereby providing income for poor peasant mothers and rendering them useful to society as a whole. swift's proposal is anything but modest, he creates a skillfull irony to compare his proposal as equivalent as to what the British is doing to the Irish people. then swift goes deep in explaining the different recipes to cook the kids in, which sounds really disjusting! In my opinion his proposal is really decent, in a poor unstable country implementing swift's proposal would be a good idea.. if the parents cant provide for themselfs and their kids then eventually they will die and the kids will start stealing and killing each other for food, and Everybody loses But if the parents sell their fresh, young 1 year olds to rich people Everybodys a WINNER!! The parents get money for their kid(s), the rich eat fresh, and the kids got spared the torture and hunger they would of faced and prevented them from causing crime and being a burden to society. “The first step to eternal life, is you have to die.”

letter that changed history


In his letter from a Birmingham jail martin luther king does a an outstanding role in trying to bring peace amongst his people. Dr. King responds to a letter he got from clergymen of the white church. The city of Birmingham is heating up with violence as young blacks sacrifice all they got for individual freedom. In the letter the clergymen proposed that Dr. King should not perform direct action in his civil rights movement. Martin luther king is a great example of a leader that will never give up hope and try relentlessly to accomplish his goals. King had four basic steps for his nonviolent campaign: 1.collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist, 2.negotiation 3.self purification; and 4.direct action. " We will reach the goal of freedom in Birmingham and all over the nation, because the goal of America is freedom."

Project Mayhem


Tyler eventually gathers the most devoted fight club members and forms Project Mayhem. project mayhem is a cult like organization that trains itself as an army to bring down modern civilization. This organization is kind of similar to fight club and it has a set of rules that everyone must follow: 1.You don't ask questions.
2.You don't ask questions.
3.No excuses.
4.No lies.
5.You have to trust Tyler.
Tyler wanted project mayhem to be an upgrade to fight club, but with common purpose to erase history by destroying the museum. the narrator that later finds out he is tyler wants to get out of the troubles but he's making them worst. tyler thinks that by doing all this they will become legends..

fight club and violence


In my opinion, i think that the book fight club indeed glorifies violence. When i read the title i immediatley assumed that the book will have an intense atmosphere. As i have read along the chapters i came across a couple of ways that the author Palahniuk asserts.. one way that fight club elevates violence is during the fights, all the fighters in the club obtained an immense beating and what motivates the beating to continue is the Rules OF Fight Club. The rules say that the fights go as long as they need to and no shirts and no shoes. If there is no time limit to a fight then someone is gonna get seriously injured or killed, to prohibit shirts and shoes in a fight is like a sword fight with no armor. With the examples given i think that there is no objection with the fact that fight club does glorify violence!
